Jesse Ayala awarded Chancellors Scholarship for the next four years

CHANCELLOR'S SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Chancellor's Scholarship Program was established in 1984 to increase the educational opportunities for academically talented underrepresented ethnic minority and disadvantaged undergraduates, specifically African, Hispanic, Native and Southeast Asian Americans. Privately funded, the program covers tuition and fees for Wisconsin and Minnesota residents, with non-residents receiving an amount approximately equal to fee remissions. Scholars also participate in a variety of co-curricular and service activities.

The program, which is administered by Assistant Vice Chancellor Mercile Lee, has had impressive results, as demonstrated by a matriculation to graduate rate of 81 percent, exceeding that of the overall campus population as a whole. More than half of the program's graduates pursue graduate/professional degrees, and a number of the graduates have already emerged as leaders in business, education, medicine and other professions.
